Are you struggling to get the creative juices flowing and style your wedding? Have you been thinking about using a wedding stylist but you’re not sure what to do or where to look? Not everyone feels creative enough to style their own wedding and many brides and grooms simply don’t have the time. So we’ve spoken to Bristol wedding stylist Liz, from Elizabeth Weddings, to find out more for you.

Liz has long been a lover of interior design and soft furnishings and after completing a placement in Somerset she knew that styling for weddings was perfect for her. She is now an established Bristol wedding stylist and loves working with all kinds of weddings.

“All weddings and events are challenges as none of them are exactly the same…and I really enjoy this”- Elizabeth Weddings

We put a few questions to Liz and here is what she had to say:

Why should people consider using a stylist?
A stylist can help design and create what will work best with a chosen venue. They can also point out areas which may need decorating but might not have been thought about. A stylist can decorate the venue for you and leave you less to worry about, it’s totally stress-free!

What services do you offer?
I offer a range of styling services including a personalised design service. I also provide bespoke table runners and handmade stationary for those finishing touches on tables.

How expensive is it to use a stylist?
There are always some stylists that are more expensive than others. I feel that I charge reasonable prices which are flexible depending on how much work and creativity is involved.

How does a stylist go about creating ideas or themes?
Magazines, Pinterest and wedding blogs inspire me to create general themes but ultimately the ideas come from my clients. I find it important to help them to focus on a particular style that works well for them but that they absolutely love.

What are your favourite colour schemes to work with?
I like working with all sorts of colours but my favourite is dusky pink and grey because they are quite classic colours. I also like rustic themes because I love anything natural!

Not only did we fire questions at Liz but she also came in to show us some of her stunning work at Racks. Liz created 3 styles that worked beautifully for weddings here at Racks. After creating the ideas, her designs were incorporated into some beautiful floral arrangements by Flowers by Thea. Liz then transformed our venue and the very talented photographer Rupert Marlow captured the beauty in some wonderful shots. We think you’ll agree that they all did a superb job and that Racks looks amazing in these photos!

The Themes:

Wine Cellar – ‘I wanted to incorporate wine bottles, corks and crates’ and really embrace the fact that Racks was once a wine cellar. This is a great example of using the venue’s unique qualities.

Rustic – ‘perfect style for Racks’. I used cascading foliage and flowers mixed in with hessian.

Trendy Party – Great for Racks customers. This style was designed to use minimalistic colours which contrast against the variety of interior textures in Racks.

Liz told us that she enjoyed styling at Racks because ‘it’s very quirky and different to venues’ she’s ‘styled in the past’. ‘I like the fact that Racks used to be a wine cellar and has kept some of those features’.

So now you’ve got an idea of what wedding stylists can do for you. It’s not just about the colour schemes and flowers but is also about all the little touches, the things that make it personal to you. From personalised stationary to incorporating special features about your venue, anything is possible and a unique scheme is waiting to be designed, just for you!

‘Racks is an amazing venue to style, it’s very different’ – Elizabeth Weddings.
