Interview With Dave: Racks Graphic Designer
Can you explain your role and some of the things you do?
I am the graphic designer for Racks as well as our hotels and sister venues and work closely with Cameron and our marketing team. There is such a variation of work to do here and I’m really enjoying it! Although creating Christmas menus & promotional material in June when we had a (brief) heat wave took some getting used too!
How long have you worked for the group and what were you doing before?
I started working for Racks back in March shortly after completing an internship with a design and marketing agency called Proctors & Stevenson. I graduated from Bath Spa uni back in 2014 and I’m really enjoying my first role as a Graphic Designer with Racks.
What do you think is the best thing on the Racks menu?
I’ve tried quite a few things on the menu now that I’ve been here a while, but I’d have to say my favourite has to be the sausage and mash!
What’s your favourite tipple?
That’s a difficult one! I do love my Gin but I’ve really started to enjoy rum too. I’m going to have to work my way through them before I can pick a winner.
Is there anything in particular that you’re looking forward to doing in the near future?
I’m going to be learning about marketing in the foreseeable future, it’s always something that has interested me and now I have the chance to do it, so I’m looking forward to that. And of course the Christmas work social, a time to unwind after the busiest time of the year!
What do you love most about Bristol?
Bristol is amazing for the amount of festivals and events that they have going on, this summer has definitely been one of my favourite. Love Saves the Day festival and Harbourside festival definitely stand out as favourites for me, I missed out on the Balloon Fiesta this year but that’s on my to do list for next summer!
How do you like to wind down at weekends?
I’m a massive football fan so love to chill and watch games, I also love to go out and try new restaurants and bars.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
I do love a bit of Made In Chelsea.. Don’t we all? No? Okay.
Erm, yes Dave we all watch a bit of Made in Chelsea…
So now that you know a bit more about Dave you’ll know who’s behind some of the great designs that you see on our website, social media and promotional material. Dave’s latest design was our Christmassy logo that you can see on the website – we love it!
